Happy Writerly Wednesday!

From the Writerly Corner Crew:

Aimee and Braydon were only 17 when Aidan was born. "Too young", they said. "Too immature", they said. "Put the baby up for adoption", they said. Aimee agreed. Braydon didn’t.

Aimee conceded and signed over full custody. Seventeen years old with a newborn. "Life will hard", they said. "You will regret this", they said. "You are throwing your future away", they said.

“Daddy, what are they doing?”
“The daddy sea lion is playing with his son.”
“Like you play with me?”
“Yes, just like how we play.”

Braydon watched Aidan intently as the child watched the sea lions with such curiosity.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
“A daddy, just like you.”
“Why?”
“You are the best daddy in the world!”

A future filled with watching Aidan grow, learn, explore, mature, and succeed is not a future wasted; it is a future I would die for.

Happy Father’s Day!!

This prompt stirred memories of standing on the Cayucos pier with my son watching the surfers and the waves.

Our time spent with our kids and our ability to influence them is so fleeting. Your story is very sweet and loving. Thx for the share.

This reminds us all of the importance of seeing the world through out children's eyes. Nicely done!

I had nothing when I first saw this prompt, but I think with emotions running high with recent horrific events, this piece allowed me to release my grief and passion. http://losingcinderella.blogspot.ca/

Sandra well done. You made me cry. When my husband and I eloped, my son was ten. He beamed when we told him and asked if he could call him Dad. When he went to bed that night. He walked up to Dennis not sure how to say goodnight. So he stuck his hand out, shook hands, and said "Goodnight, Dad." Thx for bringing out that memory.
