What do "Babes in Toyland", the RNC, and Gary Larson have in common? A fun short story!

Your imagination was put to the test for this cute story and it came through.

I guess I cheated on this one LOL. It's not fiction but an actual event that happened to my son. It was all I could think about when I looked at this picture, which sent me on a nostalgia trip about when my son was little. But it's the first time I wrote about it.

Oh my, what an awful thing to happen! Did your writing vocabulary make you think of all sorts of choice words for that mother?

It certainly did. I was so proud of my son for being the boys friend and handling him in his stern but laid back manner, but the mother believed in talking softly to the child and thought he would learn from that. No discipline at all. They had issues for sure and in the end my son and I agreed that a twelve-year-old boy did not need to carry that burden or need the drama.

Oooo! That made me cringe a little. It also reminded me of a similar incident when my daughter was only about 2-3 years old. We were at a mom's and tots gathering and one little boy hit her with scissors just above the eye. It didn't end up cutting her or anything but the mother barely said or did anything. The little boy was known to some of the other moms to act out and misbehave when he didn't get his way, and that time he took it out on my daughter. I wasn't too happy about it and she just sort of shrugged it off, like it was no big deal.

Could have taken out her eye. Ouch.

I would have been furious too. So glad your son wasn't seriously hurt.

OK, I think I got the point of this one or did I miss the mark?

Here's mine! https://sandrajjackson.wordpress.com/2016/07/27/writerly-wednesday-a-point-in-the-wrong-direction/
